Dionysus Fountain is a nice place. It’s the kind of place that wealthy merchants and off duty civil servants come to drink after a long day’s work. This… is not quite that part of the day. It’s still early afternoon and the crowd is sparse. Normally this isn’t the kind of place Aiden Frost frequents but he needed to have a meeting with someone important and that someone had indicated that this was her preferred place.
And that someone is just leaving. “You certainly considered that rather carefully, Mister Frost. I’ll put your request before the Thirty, but I don’t anticipate any problems. I trust this makes us even?” The speaker is an elf like woman with silvery hair in a long blue gown that shimmers ever so slightly… like serpent’s scales. Were Slaine to see her, she would know exactly who that was.
“Yes, it does.” The grey eyed psychic replies, glancing over to his //other// companion, a large dragon cat.
//Don’t look at me.// Ghost says. //This was your idea, I just arranged the meeting. And drank.//
“In that case I bid you good day.” The woman replies. Aiden rises and bows as she turns to walk away.
Slaine would love to speak to Kailastia, get some coverage for what they’re about to do with the College … well, no she wouldn’t really. Avoiding the attention of the Dragons of both Vesper and Sarens Rest is her preference – but that’s not simply not going to happen. Things have a way of transpiring around her … that get her ‘conferences’ with both creatures.
Which is why the small redhead pauses just outside the Dionysus Fountain as the elven woman leaves … and peers inside, spying Aiden and Ghost. Her eyes narrow. “Mmmmm…” she mutters to herself. She has to see the proprietor on a task for Gran …
Nothing for it, the Mystic heads inside and makes her way towards the other two “Vargr. Ghost. I’m surprised to see ye here …” It //really// isn’t the type of place she’d expect to see the Psychic. Ghost… not so much. For the first time in a long time, Ted Mercier almost appears ‘his old self’. Garbed something like an ‘off-duty knight’ — i.e. some armour bearing his crest, a long dark coat worn down to the ankles and a longshoreman’s cap on his head — he heads for the bar and leans his elbows against it.
“Whiskey, rocks,” says he in his ‘Louisiana drawl’ — when he notices Aiden (i.e. ‘Vargr’), Ghost, the dragoncat, and the arrival of Slaine. Both eyebrows go upwards, and Ted smirks a bit.
“What, di’n ‘spect ta see ya’ll here as well,” says he with a wry gleam in his eyes.
Megana grins, succesfully having convinced Teddy they both deserve a treat.v Things haven’t been easy lately. The Shifter orders a chocolatey drink and some chips and cheese for them both. She turns at her guardian’s voice to see who he’s talking to and the smile immediately turns to a scowl. ‘This guy!’ Seriously?? Here??
Megana is dressed casually, though not in her traveling gear. Warm grey woolen longskirt and blood red pheasant top. It seems to be a favorite color of hers. She also doesn’t seem amused to find people she knows in this place but holds her tongue.
Some tend to frequent particular taverns. That’s all well and good, but then it also just makes it so obvious that you’re out of place if you happen to go somewhere different for a change of pace or otherwise. And that’s part of the reason that Varos has never made any one place a particular haunt of his. Oh, there are some he prefers over others, definitely, but with a range of clientele, sometimes you get suggestions for places, or talk business over drinks at a fancy place like this.
So it’s not unusual at all to find the visor-wearing young clothier making his way here for some reason or another. Even before he reaches the doorway he’s lifted his head just a touch more, an odd sort of smile tugging at his lips. He smooths it over for something more neutral as he makes his way in, sidestepping a tipsy merchant making his way out.
Moving to the side of the doorway to be out of immediate traffic, he turns his head to scan the room and its patrons this afternoon as he makes for the bar area itself, as usual a motion out of habit and for show. No one needs to know he’s blind, after all.
He casts a smile in the direction of his familiar acquaintances after a quick acknowledgment towards the barkeeper for his usual. “One wouldn’t think this city were so large with coincidences such as these,” he chuckles. “How are you all?”Ghost Meg has met before. Aiden… well she’ll definitely remember Aiden. He had been speaking. About her Knight. In ways of which she did not approve.
In any case the arrival in relatively short succession of people they know has both dragon cat and psychic looking up. “Varos. Slaine. Mercier. Megana.” That’s her name right?
//Hello to you all.// The dragon cat purrs mentally. He’s… a couple wineskins in. Not drunk, but definitely relaxed.
Aiden gives him a sidelong look. “I was just meeting with someone here. Someone who prefers nicer kinds of settings.” So coincidence indeed but as Varos says, what a coincidence.
“Care to have a seat?” The telekine. He’s going to sit here at least long enough to drink a little bit and relax a little bit.
Grabbing his whiskey, he pulls out a chair.
“Slaine, Varos — awful fine ta see you. Ah’m… doin’ awlright, by the grace o’ God. Ah reckon ah really am awlright. What’s yo’ poison? Ah’ll order us a round.”
He smirks over at Megana again.
//You’n me need ta have us some words soon. Ah got news,// he projects toward her. It is entirely possible the dragoncat will sense the same words — Ted is still re-learning how to use his telepathy.
“Hello Varos!” Slaine greets the tailor “And Ser Mercier, ye’re lookin’ better.” she gives the Knight a quick once over before looking at Meg “Hello Megana.” she wonders if Meg has told Teddy about their … interview … in Sarens Rest the other day. The shifter is likely to get herself in trouble one day.
And Slaine knows all about trouble.
“Ye alright there, Ghost?” Half Pint takes a seat next to him before glancing at Teddy “Uh, a glass of wine please…” she says as she flexes the fingers of her right hand. Meg will notice the majority of the dressing is gone, but a small pad still exists on the palm.
Whatever rude rejection Megana was about to offer is forestalled by her Guardian’s acceptance and pulling up of a chair. She didn’t tell him about her conversation with Aiden of course. Then her eyes widen as Teddy’s voice sounds in her mind and she gulps down some of her chocolate liquor. She’s still…adjusting to that.
“I do too.” The Shifter murmurs to Teddy softly. Like, they’re going on an adventure to find something for Saren and she needs him with her. Also, the assassins. But this was supposed to be relaxing time dammit! All she needs now is for Greyson to walk in. The way her luck is going, it’ll happen. She isn’t gonna be able to avoid the Seer forever. “Hi.” She probably sounds a bit grumpy at the moment though manages a kinda grimacy smile for Slaine and Varos.
He’s watching the rest of the room even though he seems to have his attention on those he knows. But those who have left have left, and those who remain, remain. Varos gives a nod towards them, taking the wine glass set there for him and waiting for Slaine’s own request so he can take them both on his way to join them at Aiden’s table.
“Good to see you all as well. Fortuitous too. It saves me the trouble of trying to track you down, Ser Mercier,” he chuckles as he sits, reaching towards Slaine to set her wine by her. He lifts his own glass in a bit of a toast. Despite the somewhat forced smile from Megana, Varos offers the Shifter a friendly one in turn before he casts a look towards Aiden and his strange drinking partner, a brow arching beneath his mask, but his expression remains amused as he lifts his glass for a sip.Teddy may or may not notice the woman delivering wine. She’s got a jagged horn jutting out of her head and skin that looks like an irridescent beetle shell. And a pair of insect like wings hanging from her back like a cloak. She’s dress very conservatively and professionally though and had been pushing cases of amphorae into the back for the rush later tonight.
Suddenly she staggers and clutches at her head but the moment passes.
“Got Mercier’s clothes ready, do you Varos? No other trouble at your shop I trust?” ‘Vargr’ looks over at the questionably blind tailor. How does he tailor like that? Aiden tries not to think about it too much. “Anyway that means, we’ll be ready to ‘dance’ soon.”
//Or will you?// Ghost purrs. //A little bird told me that Slaine and Megana got hauled into the Dragon’s Den yesterday.//
How does Ghost find these things out?
It’s a question no one has time to ask because the woman with the shiney black skin and horn slides out of nowhere into Teddy’s lap. “We need to talk.” She murmurs. “You have news…”
“Thank you Mister Varos…” Slaine accepts the wine from the Tailor and smiles up at him. Megana’s grumpy smile gets a reserved look … Slaine’s not comfortable around the Shifter. For various reasons.
Ghosts little piece of information gets a flat look from Half Pint “Again. I got hauled into the Dragons Den //again//.” she mutters “Sarenthon seems to think I’m a toy or somethin’. But yes, he was havin’ a ‘discussion’ with a Brodkil who was lookin’ for Megana and me… and Grans new houseguest.” she looks at Meg “He gave us a task to do…”
The Shifter can finish that off.
GAME: Slaine McClellan has set the pose order to Defiant, Slaine, Teddy, Meg, VarosTeddy pauses mid-drink when hearing part of the conversation — about Slaine, Megana — the DRAGON — and the… Brodkil? He goes to put his drink down, and starts inquiring as to what happened:
“Wait, ya’ll met the rift-damned //dragon??// How — when? Meg, why di’n ya ever tell me? You… still got all yo’ bits after a meetin’ like — .”
He never finishes the question.
When the strange, iridescent-skinned waitress just sits herself down in the man’s lap, Ted’s eyes go wide with shock and he blushes visibly. “Uhh… par’n me, lady, but you sure you got the right lap? Uh, what ‘news’?” He glances around as if to ask: ‘does this happen often here?’
//Uh, Meg… there’s a strange woman in mah lap,// he projects to his ward. //What do ah do? Ain’ like this happens often ta me…//
Unfortunately for him, Teddy projects it to the whole table.
“Uh excuse me!” Megana scowls at the woman before shoving at her. “That is MINE.” The Shifter looks downright murderous. Though it falters for a second. “All my wha-! Of course I do. Like I can’t handle a dragon.” She snorts. “I was gonna tell you. Just after we had some fun. We havta go find something he wants. If we do that he won’t hand me over to the College.”
She glowers at the waitress again and adds in an absent sort of manner. “They sent some kinda assassin or agent after me. Still want my blood and I guess they want Slaine dead too and some poor kid that never even heard of those stupid bastards. We need to go light them up when we’ve got time Teddy. Put the fear of your god into ’em.”
“We do- or at least, for a fitting, whenever you have the time for it, of course,” Varos replies, the latter naturally directed towards Teddy. “But no, no further trouble as of late- thankfully. Raksha would probably be /quite/ upset if something else were destroyed of our shop. -ah, you’re quite welcome, Slaine,” he grins, taking another sip of wine.
His head turns just slightly in the direction of the beetle-esque woman, but his attention swings back towards the largest of their little group as Ghost speaks up in his interesting way. “Oh my.” He looks surprised, and then an amused sort of smile touches his face. “Never a dull moment, hm?” he chuckles, listening as Megana offers her side of the explanation.
Although speaking of non-dull moments, when the cyber-knight suddenly has a closer encounter with a strange woman, Varos coughs, barely managing to swallow down that bit of wine before he sputtered it anywhere. That would have probably been very unappreciated. Not to mention uncouth! And yet those are hardly the things on his mind as he seems to be trying to hide a snicker, and failing. Just a bit.The group broadcast gets an identical look from Aiden and Ghost. A look that says ‘no kidding’. If ever one needed evidence that these two were familiar with one another this would be it.
Meg’s indignant ‘mine’ just gets a cloudy-eyed look from the beetle-woman. “We need to talk.” She explains in a calm, almost vaccant voice. “He has news…” She looks back down at Teddy. “What’s the news?” Beat. “We need to talk.”
“What the actual hell?” Aiden mutters, trying to work out what’s happened before giving up and looking over to Varos.
“I had a look around, you know, after the last time I visited your shop. There’s a lot of buildings someone could have shot at it from and it didn’t seem as though anyone had really… seen anything. That kind of hardware, though, it’s pretty specialized. Can’t be that many people in town with it. Sorry that’s not real definitive.”
Ghost glances over to Slaine and just sighs. //You’re going to get yourself crunched one of these days, half pint.//
It actually takes Slaine a moment to realise that Teddy is being accosted … she blinks at the group broadcast and shakes her head. “Ye must be out practice, Ser Mercier. Most of the men I know … ” she trails off with a cough. Megs //mine// and protest about handling the dragon gets an eye roll from the small redhead. “I think ye need to talk to her …” yeah, talk. That’s what he needs to do.
Ghosts comment to her has Slaine sighing “I don’ go out to do these things, Ghost. Things jus’ have a habit of happenin’. Besides, do ye know anyone who’d say ‘no’ to the Dragon? Either of them?” she’s a little put out by the whole situation.
“What type of hardware, Vargr?” the mystic is interested as she looks between him and Varos “Magic based? or Technology?”“There… weren’t much time fo’ that in the Order durin’ the war…” Ted says rather awkwardly to Slaine. Actually, it is more ‘since the war’ and due to his psi-conditioning, but he wouldn’t want to say that out loud. He can barely remember who he was before that was done to him, anyway…
The man does give Slaine a puzzled look though, as if he had sensed something — or a shadow of something — followed by another look at Meg, and then back at Slaine…
Only to have his attention arrested by his new ‘lap guest’ once more. “Whaddya mean ‘we need ta talk’, lady? Who’n hell //are// you? Fo’get that, who’n hell d’ya think //ah// am??”
And he blushes some more.
To Megana, he adds: “You wanna help me out here, Meg? Or are ya too busy layin’ claim to mah lap here? This lap is mine fo’ mah use, ya hear?” Pause. “Wait, fo’get ah said that.” The man reaches for his drink again, drains it dry and signals the bartender for another one.
“Half tempted ta jus’… run with it…” he mutters out loud, still looking mildly distressed. It is not merely his being ‘out of practice’, but fear of his headaches coming back if he indulges. Then an idea occurs to him, and he deliberately focuses his mind upon the waitress and whatever it is she thinks she needs to speak to him about…
Megana just blinks. She’s so near killing that little bitch..only Teddy’s distracting her from it inadverdantly perhaps but.. It gives her a chance to calm down enough to think. “Mi-wait. I think maybe she’s having some kinda weird fit in reaction to your power. Go on, get outta here! Or I’m gonna throttle you.” The Shifter pries at the woman forcefully and attempts to climb onto her Guardian’s lap in her place. She does not share!.
Later Megana will probably be amused that Teddy accidently broadcast to the whole table. Right now she’s just frustrated still. This is so not going according to plan! I mean, like, it never does anyway but seriously what the hell. What force of fate did she piss off recently? Maybe it needs to die too.. “You ain’t running anywhere with her!” Meg hisses softly. Like hell! Maybe this is all anightmare. It’s frequently one that she has except.. why would all the others be here then? Damn. Nope, she’s awake, isn’t she?
Attempting to clear his throat, Varos sets down his wineglass for the time being. He murmurs an apology, smothering a grin despite Ted’s obvious distress. Something about the repetitive insistance the strange woman keeps nettling the Cyber-Knight with is enough to make one curious, after all. “That might be the best way to get any answers, I think,” he says.
And then he looks back at Aiden, his mood sobering. He leans back in his seat a bit as he folds his arms. “I’m sure it is… And I wouldn’t be surprised if whoever targeted us that day wasn’t local to begin with.” He sighs. “I do appreciate that you tried to check things out at least, Vargr,” he says, although his glance towards Slaine suggests that he’s open to hearing that clarification as the mystic asks.“For a laser like that? Big sniper rifle. Probably a Wilks. A Northern Gun rifle would have been an ion gun with that kind of range and power. Too bulky, too loud. There just aren’t that many of those floating around. They’re… a bit expensive.” Aiden’s lowered his voice now, still watching Teddy out of the corner of his eye. Cyber knights. Really.
When Teddy probes the poor woman’s mind he finds out two things. One, her name is Zzzzxt. Or something like that. Two, she has no idea what they’re supposed to talk about. Only that he told her to talk to her. He has news.
And it shouldn’t take him long from there to realize that he’s brain blasted the poor girl Effectively brainwashed her. It’s temporary to be sure, but… yeah. Good job.
Ghost looks like he’s already worked it out and is struggling to contain giggles.
“Been a while has it?” Slaine asks Teddy, trying so very hard not to laugh. She’s no idea what he’s done … but it’s so rather amusing. “Megana, that isn’ helpin’, jus’ calm down.” Because that’s sure to help isn’t it?
“Is Raksha ok, Mister Varos? I haven’ asked and I’m sorry for that..” Half Pint casts a look at Ghost who looks like he’s having a fit before focussing on Aiden “So it would be possible to see who might have bought one? Couldn’ be too many vendors to check out, surely? Sounds like someone has money though – hiring the courier and then … that.”“Megana thinks she can lay claim to all mah bits,” Ted replies to Slaine with a plaintive sigh — and a sidelong glance at his ward. He has to shift his position on the chair a bit — one of his legs is going to sleep, given that someone is sitting on it. Someone with an exoskeleton — and gladly drinks down his second whiskey when it arrives.
“Ah reckon this one is jus’…” he trails off, glancing back at the D-Bee in his lap. “Zzzzzxt. Zzzzzzzzzzxt? Zzz — uh, Zzzzxt?”
Then it occurs to him, belately, that his attempts at pronouncing the woman’s name probably sound like pure gibberish as he never bothered to explain what he was doing. Here is a grown man, sitting in a chair with a strange D-Bee woman in his lap…
Making buzzing noises in her ear.
Ted blushes furiously. “Ahhh, ahem. Ah’m tryin’ ta… pronounce her name, is all. Ah swear. It’s… ‘Zzzzxt’. Ah swear it. An’… oh //shit//.”
He has just figured out what he has done to her. “Aw, hells’n shit. Satan’s Salty Balls, ah’m so sorry…”
Megana is starting to understand what happened, it only took her so long cause of the jealous little fit of her own but it’s not like she could help that! It just, it’s a thing. A problem. One that Shifter is starting to become aware of. “Well. So much for that being a secret.” She sighs. “Teddy’s telepathy is starting to come back. He doesn’t really remember havin’ it before. It’s.. an adjustment.”
And now she can’t kill the stupid woman without looking like an evil little witch. Grrrrreat. At least it’ll wear off soon. But dammit! “Aw. Teddy. It’s okay. You didn’t mean it and she’ll be fine. It’ll wear off. I’m not gonna..bother her.” Definitely no killing now. Siiiiiiiiigh. “Uh. Where did you learn that expression??” Megana snickers, slumping back against her Guardian’s side. She’s not sure exactly what the others are talking about and though it doesn’t look like it, she was listening.. kinda. It’s just.. “Grrrrr.” Megana downs the rest of her drink.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if expense wasn’t an issue,” Varos murmurs, not quite frowning. “And who’s to say they hadn’t already had such a weapon in their possession? Hired or not, someone’s got enough to spare. Did I tell you about the window? They included enough cash to pay for a replacement- along with the brick that had been cast to break it.”
He tilts his head in the direction of Ted, Megana and that poor serving woman, but his thoughts are still mainly upon the matter of unpleasant snipers. Still, he begins to nod as he catches Megana’s explanation on Teddy’s part. Well, that makes a bit more sense. It also gains the Cyber-Knight a sympathetic look. “Well, at least she’s cute,” he offers. Helping.
Glancing back at the red-head, he nods. “Hm? Oh, she’s quite well, Slaine. She’ll be happy to hear you’ve thought of her. But she’s a tough one. What happened that day might have startled her, but she’s long since been right back to work.” His smile is brief but reassuring. “…what I’d like to know is how this obsessed stalker is getting his information. I don’t quite like the idea of being spied upon in some form or another.”Zzzxt had been sort of clinging onto Teddy while Meg tried to pry her off which may have been uncomfortable for Ted on one or more levels. Once the whole thing is explained Ghost bursts into howling psychic paroxysms of laughter and Aiden just facepalms.
“Knights…” He sighs, as if that says everything that needs saying.
“What do we have to talk about?” Zzzxt says blithely unaware of Meg’s previous hate filled glares nor her rather reluctant forgiveness. It might be annoying that she has ‘eyes’ only for Teddy (multifaceted ones at that) but it’s not really her fault.
Also Varos isn’t wrong. And oh the ways Raksha could accessorize that horn, no doubt.
A horn that she nearly pokes Meg in the eye with looking around.
“I’m sure this is someone of resources. Weapons and assassins are expensive, as you say…” Aiden shakes his head. “If I hear anything I’ll let you know.”
Aiden, of course, has no idea that Varos has better connections to that kind of person than he. Which is probably for the best right now.
“With that kind of money could be anything from nano-drones to just paying the local street urchins. I’d lean toward the latter though. There may be a lot of money involved but nothing you’ve mentioned suggests much… sophistication.” And if there is that much money changing hands… there may be people to talk to or a trail to follow.
“Anyway, I should get going. You guys… enjoy.” That last bit is directed rather sincerly at Slaine and Varos and rather uncertainly at Meg, Teddy and the woman in who’s ear he is blowing.
“Mmmmm,” Slaine considers Aidens information and nods to Varos “Well that’s a good question, Mister Varos. Please let Raksha know I said ‘hi’.” There’s not a heap she can do about this at the moment, but she’ll keep her ears open.
It might be Megs explanation that does it. Or it might be Teds antics. Or it might be Ghosts howls of laughter. Whatever it is, Slaine can’t help it, she giggles … a lot. “Oh, Ser Mercier. You’re jus’ goin’ to have to let it wear off. It will… eventually.” How long? Slaine doesn’t know.
“I’ll enjoy, Vargr…” she looks at Teddy with amusement again and then finishes her wine. “But right now, I’ve got to pick up a package for Gran and get goin’. Don’ want to keep her waitin’.”“It ain’ mah fault!”
Teddy’s expression is priceless — horror-stricken, as though he had done a very, very naughty thing, but without entirely meaning to. Aye, this would go against every tenet in the Order regarding ‘mind-tricks’, but given that it was accidental… no headache.
Just… utter chagrin.
“News — you want ‘news’??” the Cyber-Knight inquires of the waitress, with another glance around the table. “Uhh… news. Yo’ free ta go. There. News. Now, git.”
Of course, it doesn’t work. The Compulsion was to get ‘news’ — Ted never stipulated ‘what news’ or ‘how much’, so… he is left with the woman on his lap, and by now his leg has gone completely to sleep.
He turns toward Varos and clears his throat. “Uhh, ah should stop by for that outfit when yo’ ready,” says he a little awkwardly. “Also, ah got a young girl — mah sister — who needs some new clothes awful bad. S’awlright if ah bring her in too?”
Ted gives Megana a look and adds: “She’s safe. Ah got her back. Damn slave-traders gon’ pay though. Gon’ pay badly…”
Megana gives Varos and his help a look that could melt glaciers. She also spreads some of that glare onto Aiden as he moves to go. She still wants to give him a piece of her mind!! But she can’t. Not in front of Teddy. Though, wow. He apparently knows more about cursing than she’d thought. That part is kinda funny. The woman is still not. Not even a little. Meg still just wants to murder her. Greatly. But she won’t. “Be safe.” The Shifter mutters in a voice that sorta suggests he be anything but. Her smile is also.. kinda scary maybe. It’s..sincere. But it isn’t exactly a happy kind of sincere.
The smile for Slaine is a bit lighter, definitely. Megana has slowly started to get used to the fact that redhead is someone she keeps meeting. Besides, they need to work together if they don’t wanna die. The Shifter can do that if her life depends on it. Also, the kid’s. She’s not so dense she hasn’t figured out why she cares about Kaji. The boy reminds her of her son, he isn’t that much older. Those thoughts make her uncomfortable though and she doesn’t want to focus on them.
Nadia is much safer and Megana gladly changes tracks. “Yeah. I’m sorry Teddy. I.. she made me promise not to tell you. I wanted to. I really did but she..” His ward looks bewildered. Nadia make sher feel.. kinda like Kaji does actually. Well. Crapsicles.
It’s better to ask questions openly and conduct other investigations through more…specialized contacts on the side. You received more information in some form this way, and less attention of the suspicious sort. Of course, the only downside is that you still had to wait to find things out. Still, Varos is grateful for the offer, as well as Vargr’s thoughts on the matter. Nodding, he gives a faint smile towards Aiden and then the little mystic as they excuse themselves then. “Thanks, Vargr. And I’ll pass that along to her, Slaine. See you both around, hm?”
Somehow he manages not to shiver at the look from Megana. It’s an impressive force unto itself! Instead, he turns a smile towards her, apologetic. He hadn’t meant any offense!
“Ah, certainly, Ser Mercier. You’re welcome to come by whenever. And we can most certainly help with finding something for your sister to wear too,” he assures. No doubt they can. Aiden either doesn’t see Meg’s glare or just ignores it. Could be either and either way Meg won’t have to deal with him right now. He’s simply… off for other parts, as is Slaine.
Zzzxt… is not. And she won’t be for a couple of hours probably. By which time Teddy’s leg will be not just asleep but in a coma unless he shifts her off. She’s a //lot// heavier than she looks.
That’s not the worst part though. The worst part will be explaining what she’s doing there when it wears off…
Meeting up in Dionysus Fountain, people discuss the happenings with The College and Varos' incident. A misfired Psychic message causes no end of issues for Teddy in an interesting predicament.
