"By Fire and Ash, I will do my clan honor!"
Vutharisk Mitnealtiui, or in common tongue, Black Star of the Light Wing clan, is a young Dragon. Not even close to being a teenager in their long life and still but a child in the eyes of many even back home, but it would seem fate would not smile on him. The young dragon has been separated from his clan, taken away into the unknown realm of of this world. In a place, he feels he has no where to call home and doesn't understand the world's customs. Knowing that to survive, he must adapt and adapt quickly.
Vutharisk has to depend on his teachings to get him by. The morals and ethics that his elders have taught him and push away the words echoed by the Traitor. The one that nearly ripped their own world apart and tossed him into this one. He must learn who he truly is in this strange world and find his place among the strange humans of this world. For back in his, dragons were seen as Guardians and while some were corrupted, most upheld their rightful place as teachers and guidance to the young, barbaric mankind.
Here though, mankind is adverse as his own people. With strange devices and many other races all thrown together with different values and beliefs. Which can all be overwhelming for the young dragon and cause him at times to make poor life choices, let alone make him question his own teachings, though he has to constantly remind himself to stay true and to the path.
For the dragons that remain to the teachings of The Wise will one day find their place among the great astral space, leaving their light in the great sky for others to follow by, but those that do not follow the teachings will become nothing but mere monsters and when they die, will be forgotten in time. While the traitor told him it was all lies, it is a teaching Vularisk tries to hold onto.
To be honorable.
To aid those who can not aid themselves.
To be a guiding light in the dark.
And to uphold the truth.
Time will only tell if the young dragon, with his runic magic teachings, shifting form, and placed in this strange world can truly keep to the teachings and words of The Wise.. Or if he too will fall off the path.
Vutharisk is not in his home world anymore and is now alone in a much larger, stranger, and far more dangerous one.
Invoke: Vutharisk doesn't want to be alone and will try to make friends with those he believes are good people and have honorable hearts.
Compel: When left alone by those he trusted for to long, Vutharisk can become seemingly hostile and can easily feel betrayed. He is very needy hatchling.
Pride Goeth Before The Fall
Vutharisk /knows/ what is right and he will do it, no matter what. The problem is, Vutharisk is young in the ways of Dragons and he doesn't know everything there is to know.
Invoke: When he's faced with a situation where his blinding belief in the ways of his people or teachings comes to the forefront.
Compel: When his pride in his belief leads him down the wrong path and puts him at odds with his environment or those around him.
The Power Of Words
Vutharisk casts magic by means known as "Runes". This is done by writing symbols of magic and can be conjured in the air, a circle of words on the ground, on doors, or chests. He can also write magical words on an item for a non-magic individual to provoke the arcane power of said item, much like a scroll, which he calls "Arcane Etching".
Invoke: When other spells are cast around him that are of unknown nature, he will try to pick up on what runes may be associated with it and copy the spell that was cast.
Compel: If Vutharisk writes in haste or he gets distracted, he may write the rune in error and it can have extremely negative implications that may be harmful to himself or others around him.
The Losing Of Light
Vutharisk is constantly in a battle to keep his 'light' shinning bright. He wants to do what is right, while trying to find family, friends, and a place to call home. He craves to be part of something great, but fears that it will all be fleeting and he will loose everything to the darkness.
Invoke: When he feels safe and at peace that things are going the right way, leading him to find his center of mind and soul.
Compel: When he feels everything he has worked for may be indangered and leave him open to darker influences of bad choices or scrambled desires.
Tincans and Ketchup
As a dragon Vutharisk can be short tempered and though he will never admit it, everyone looks like a possible food source for his near voidless stomache. He fights back his instincts for the good of the teachings, but there are times he love some ketchup for those he wishes he could just sink his teeth around.
Invoke: Vutharisk does his best to keep his composure when his temper is being tested and not bare his fingers at friend nor enemy as they continue to push his personal buttons.
Compel: Vutharisk gets pushed beyond what his temper will allow and lashes out with draconic anger, teeth bared, and willingness to fight right here and now.
Major Gateway: Dimensional Being (2)
Vutharisk is a dragon hatchling and is a from another deminsional world.
Racial Quirk: Flight
As a dragon, Vutharisk is capable of flight and can travel great distances within the air on his draconic wings.
Racial Quirk: Magic In The Blood
Dragons are born with a fairly complete understanding of magic theory, but they don’t actually know any spells unless and until they can find someone to teach them. You have access to the Arcana skill and gain an exotic stress track as if you were a mage. You may purchase any arcane purview that isn’t itself restricted in some way at standard cost.
Arcane Fundamental (1)
For those schools of magic that deal in study and learning – which is most of them – this Purview is often the first a new mage is taught. It’s a pretty mixed lot in general. Basic energy manipulation, basic armor spells, basic telekinesis, basic countermagic. The key word in there is ‘basic’. These are all things that are either relatively easy to teach neophyetes or essential to their future success and survival. As a rule, they tend to scale fairly well as a mage grows in knowledge. Very few people ever regret learning the fundamentals. (Connected with unique advantage from "Magic In The Blood")
Racial Quirk: Tireless Tracker
As a dragon, he uses his keen senses and instincts to help him survive in the wilderness, along with track, and counter track all living things.
Racial Quirk: Armor of Fear
Dragons, even as hatchlings, are fearsome creatures. One might be mad to pick a fight with a dragon, and so, as a Dragon, Vutharisk uses his ferocity as a means to Provoke as a defensive measure against Fight attacks, but only until tyhe first time you're dealt stress in a conflict. This works up until they realize he isn't so fearisome after all and that the Hatchling is just bluffing his way out of a fight.
Inhuman Senses (1)
Vutharisk has a keen nose and eagle sight with his eyes. As a natural predator, these help him hunt, but have other uses as well. (You are +2 to Notice and Investigate rolls that use these senses and may use this ability as justification to make rolls where humans might not as makes sense for the situation. As a downside, overcoming aspects like ‘Sensory Overload’ can be a problem for you. The difficulty of all such overcome rolls is increased by one.)
Ranged Attack (1)
Dragon fire is a dangerous, natural ranged attack and Vutharisk is no stranger to his natural breath weapon. (You gain the ability to make shoot attacks with a weapon value equal the weapon value of your unarmed fight attacks (0, unless modified by Physicality extras). This weapon may make spray attacks.)
Thickened Hide (2)
Dragon's are known for their strong scales and tough hide. This Hatchling is no different. (grants additional 1x2 physical stress boxes)
You move two zones for free in a conflict without rolling, instead of one, provided there are no situation aspects restricting movement.
Take the Blow (1)
You can use Physique to defend against Fight attacks made with fists or blunt instruments, though you always take 1 shift of stress on a tie.
New acquaintances meet old ones in the streets of Vesper, and not without talk of the looming threat of the soulless.
