Teagan Alexis Martyn
40 (looks to be in her late 20s)
5'7" (170.18 cm)
Teagan Alexis Martyn is a techno-wizard from the Carolinas who has traveled the breadth of the North American continent and is returning to the east coast. (a more detailed version of her background will be able to be found on my Teagan page and may be added here at a later date also)
Gun and Knife Totin' Half-Elf Tech-Mage
Teagan is both a techno-wizard and a warrior. She's a connoisseur of guns and knives of all sorts and she's gorram good with `em t'boot. Some might call her a "samurai cowgirl" but she'd be quick to point out that her blades aren't katanas and she prefers her cows medium well.
Invoke: Whenever her skills can be brought to bear, in combat or the crafting of techno-wizardry devices.
Compel: When someone disses her talents or weapons, especially those she made herself, or when she fails to appreciate that there's such a thing as overconfidence in her abilities.
Mouth of the South
To say Teagan can be boisterous and snarky is like saying dinosaurs can be big. There are times when her candor can be viewed as honesty or quaint but more often than not when she finds herself in hot water it's because of something she said.
Invoke: When she can use either her bluntness or distinctive, southern accent to her advantage or to be heard over other noises.
Compel: When a sarcastic comment could be made but shouldn't or when being quiet is important but may be difficult due to exciting circumstances.
The world needs a great defender (could that be me?)
Teagan has travelled almost the entire breadth of the North American continent and she has seen the conditions people live in and the various enemies they face. She knows that someone must stand up for those who cannot stand for themselves and she hopes she is up for the task. But there are doubts there as well.
Invoke: When she is defending someone else, individuals or groups, whether by actually fighting or not.
Compel: When she sees someone in need of defending and feels urged to take action for that purpose.
Half-Elfin Qualities (D-Bee; 2)
Teagan is a half-elf. While she appears human fundamentally (as long as one discounts her ears which are angled and come to a point, although less so than those of actual elves), she has inherited elfin grace and senses. Additionally, due to hybrid vigor she is more resistant to disease than either of her ancestral races. (These are described in detail below, this is the package that opens up those abilities.)
Graceful Silence (Racial Quirk; 0)
Teagan's natural poise and grace enable her to pass quietly and undetected. She uses her Athletics skill in place of Stealth whenever silence alone would help her move undetected.
Hybrid Vigor (Racial Quirk; 0)
As a half elfin and half human hybrid, Teagan has a greater ability to resist diseases. She enjoys a +2 bonus to overcome rolls with Physique to resist disease.
Keen Senses (Extra; 1)
Teagan's vision and hearing are better than those of normal human having inherited the cat-like senses of her elfin ancestors. She enjoys a +2 bonus to Notice and Investigate rolls using vision and hearing; she may use this ability as justification to make rolls where humans might not as appropriate for the situation. However, overcoming aspects like ‘Sensory Overload’ can be a problem for her; the difficulty of all such overcome rolls is increased by one.
Techno-Wizard (Mage; 1)
Teagan is a member of that class of mage which befuddles arcanists and scientists alike. As a techno-wizard, while she is capable of casting spells like any other mage, she finds magic easiest to use with, through or on technology. Additionally, she can make devices though her techno-wizardry which other mages and psychics can use as well. For traditional spellcasting, Teagan suffers a -1 penalty and pays an extra exotic stress; this is not the case when she has a suitable item to channel the spell though however (frex: a gun for an attack spell, glasses for a see in the dark spell, etc.). She knows the following purviews: Arcane Fundamentals, Blessings, and Sympathetic Magic; due to her training in the fundamental arcane traditions she may mark off a box of physical stress or take a physical consequence to restore a box of exotic stress.
Arcane Fundamentals Purview (Mage; 0)
Like all techno-wizards, Teagan's magical studies began with the basics and she retains this general knowledge base. This mixed bag of tricks includes basic energy manipulation, basic armor spells, basic telekinesis, basic countermagic, etc.; the key here is ‘basic’. These are all things that are either relatively easy to learn or essential towards future success and survival. In general they tend to scale fairly well as a mage grows in knowledge.
Blessings Purview (Mage; 0)
Teagan has studied a school of magic collectively called blessings. These spells, or boons, are meant to enhance, lift up and empower those it is used on. The range of effects these spells can produce is rather staggering but they’re all united by the common theme of empowering or aiding someone or something. Many of these spells can be used by the mage upon themselves, indeed there are a number of them that are not able to be used on others, but there are just as many spells in this category that allow a mage to enhance servants or companions as well, allowing them to perform feats they might otherwise be incapable of doing.
Sympathetic Magic Purview (Mage; 0)
Teagan practices a form of magic referred to by the knowledgeable as "sympathetic magic" which is based on the principle of magic that like calls to like allowing its practitioners to make a mockery of distance as long as they can leverage the proper metaphysical connections. Like most practitioners of sympathetic magic, Teagan's primary use of this are to aid in communication and observation... allowing her to look at things and communicate with people who are distant, although she can also use it for other purposes.
Freaky Engineering (Stunt; 1)
While Teagan is a well-rounded crafter, none can argue that she hasn't a specialized focus. When using Crafts to design, make or repair techno-wizardry devices she has a +2 bonus all rolls.
Hidden Knowledge (Stunt; 1)
Teagan may use Lore for topics relating to magic and the occult.
Knife Fighter (Stunt; 1)
Teagan's as good wielding a knife in a fight as she is at throwing them. She can use Shoot in place of Fight when wielding small fighting blades. (Knife based shoot attacks have a range of one zone.)
Quick on the Draw (Stunt; 1)
Teagan can use Shoot instead of Notice to determine turn order in any physical conflict where shooting quickly would be useful.
Well-Travelled (Stunt; 1)
Teagan has seen much of North America and her familiarity with the people and places of the continent helps her get along with those who come from those places. She may use Lore instead of Rapport when she has visited the homeland or home state of the person she is speaking to.
Wing Board Pilot (Stunt in place of Racial Quirk; 0)
Teagan can fly a wing board by pure instinct as an application of her magical talents. She may use Arcane instead of Drive for operating these techno-wizardry vehicles.
TW-38 Endless Revolver (Equipment; 0)
Teagan has a techno-wizardry revolver crafted from steel in such a way to have a distinctive patterns of banding and mottling reminiscent of flowing water similar to Damascus steel and inscribed with runes inlayed with pale yellow electrum. While it accepts mundane ammunition, it can be charged (at the cost of one exotic stress) and be used for an entire scene as if it is loaded, firing blasts of mystic energy instead of bullets. It has a weapon value of two (2) either way, although for an additional exotic energy this can be increased to three (3) for a scene.
Wing Board (Equipment; 0)
At the end of her apprenticeship Teagan crafted her own wing board, an iconic one-person techno-wizardry aircraft that is powered by the ley lines it must travel upon (because of this the vehicle does not require the expenditure of exotic stress to activate or use). Although it is her personal creation, any mage or psychically active character fly it, using Drive to pilot it at speeds of up to 150mph (or just over 240kph). Teagan's design allows the wings and the "tail"/foot stand to be folded and retracted into the main body of the wing turning it into an isosceles tangential trapezoidal shape which, due to straps that can retract into the board, can be worn on the back.
