Hector's story starts just before he was hatched 2 years ago in the deserts of the New West. A cyber-knight named Sir Marcus, wandering far from the Tolkeen conflict to resist the temptation to flout orders, wandered across a burned villiage. Every living thing, every building or structure, was burned to ashes, In the center of the town, there was a single egg that remained always warm to the touch. Sir Marcus took the egg and continued his nomadic ways. After the Tolkeen conflict was over, he began to head east to help in the aftermath.
Almost before he could set out, the egg finally hatched. Hector, as Sir Marcus named him, grew fast and travelled for a time with the cyber-knight. Alas, Sir Marcus did not live to reach Tolkeen, as a roving Coalition patrol, attracted by sightings of Hector flying overhead, attacked the pair and Marcus was slain. Hector escaped that fight, and continued on, though he had no real motivation to go to Tolkeen. So, he decided to head for the coast.
Hector is a bright red dragon who bursts into flames. Often the center of attention, Hector is a good-natured showoff. He is immensely powerful, and enjoys every minute of it. Even when wearing his human mask, he is not a subtle dragon.
Invoke: When it comes time to impress or intimidate, when an objective is best completed with force and style, when showmanship is called for
Compel: When things need be done quietly or anonymously, when dealing with those who hate or fear dragons, when dealing with those who fear property damage
Hector is a very young being, and he hasn't yet been exposed to depths of depravity that exist on his homeworld.
Invoke: When a willingness to trust without cause or accept without guile can win someone over, when approaching a situation clear-eyed and free of negative bias
Compel: When confronted by those he really should not trust or accept, when presented with information that is not as it appears at face value
Fire is part of Hector's very being. He is drawn to it, and the idea that some fear it is faintly ridiculous to him.
Invoke: When in a very hot or fiery environment, when dealing with fiery beings or those with an elemental connection to fire
Compel: When there's potential for accidental property damage, when in the presence of those phobic or traumatized by fire
Major Gateway: Greater Dimensional Being (2)
Hector is a Flame Wind Dragon hatchling. Otherworldly, inhuman, and powerful.
Racial Quirk: Teleportation (0)
Dragons have an innate knack for translocation. Hector is able to teleport himself and his possessions to another point within a few miles. It does take concentration, and might require a roll in high stress situations.
Racial Quirk: Flight (0)
Not all dragons can fly, but Hector's massive wings make it look easy. He can fly and is able to make skill rolls (primarily athletics) in connection to it.
Racial Quirk: Magic in the Blood (0)
Dragons are born with a fairly complete understanding of magic theory, but they don't actually know any spells unless they can find someone to teach them. Hector has access to the Arcana skill and gains an exotic stress track as if he were a mage. He may purchase any arcane purview that isn't itself restricted in some way at standard cost.
Racial Quirk: Flaming Scales (0)
A Flame Wind dragon can seemingly cause himself to burst into flames in a manner similiar to the psychic Burster or the Elemental Fusionist. Unlike them, the dragon hatchlings own scales are actually burning, even though this does no damage to the Flame Wind (this is just a natural part of the dragon's physiology). Because the Flame Wind is actually on fire, anything he is carrying is damaged by the raging flames and he will ignite anything he touches, such as carpeting, drapes, paper, wood, dry grass, etc. You may at any time give yourself an aspect called 'On Fire' without a roll which you may invoke or have compelled as usual.
Exotic Sense: Thermal Vision (1)
Flame Wind dragons are able to see the heat within objects in their environment and gauge temperatures.
Potent Ranged Attack: Fire Breath (2)
Dragons have the ability to cause harm at a distance with their legendary fire breath. Flame Wind dragons breathe particularly fierce flames. Hector has the ability to make shoot attacks with a weapon value of 3, one greater than the weapon value of his unarmed fight attacks. This weapon may make spray attacks.
Polymorphing: Mask (0)
Polymorphing is the art of altering the body's shape or size without altering its abilities. It is common among dragons, who find it useful for going among smaller folk. Hector has a single human shape he may take, which does not change.
Healing: Greater Healing (1)
Dragons recover rapidly from injury compared to humans, able to heal in weeks or days what would lay a human up for months. Hector recovers from physical consequences in half the usual time and may begin his recovery without any justification. Once per conflict, he may roll physique and clear that amount of physical stress from his track.
Physicality: Greater Physicality (2)
Dragons are creatures of immense physical presence, with strength and toughness to match their size and ferocity. Hector gains armor 5, an extra mild physical consequence slot, the normal physical stress track is replaced with the following: 2x 1, 2x 2, 2x 3, 2x 4, 1x 5, 1x 6. His fight attacks at weapon 2 due to natural weapons and great strength. His physique cap is increased to 6 and he gains +2 on overcome actions using raw strength.
Elemental Immunity: Fire (1)
Flame Wind dragons are impervious to flames, and immune to the negative effects of heat and fire.
