"I'm trying to be more of a gentleman."
Cowboy Bot Pilot
Brody grew up in the Spirit West, around what was Arizona. Given up by his father after his mother died after child's birth. He was adopted by a comrade of his father, a retired bot pilot who bought some land and with the help of his extended family become a rancher long time ago. As a human, raised by Wolfen, Brody found himself compensating with bad behavior and a tendency to go off on his own. To cull this attitude, his adopted father, gifted him an old bot and with the help of his brother, the two taught Brody how to pilot.
After a couple years, Brody was brought in as a rancher to help by using the bot and the results proved profitable that the family invested in a small team of bot pilot ranchers and Brody's schooling as a professional pilot. He served the family well but grew complacent and fond of the bottle, so much that one night, when the family was collecting horses back from thieves, his drunkenness prevented him from protecting his adopted father who took a serious injury that made him unable to work for many weeks and eventually succumb to the wound.
With his whole life dedicated to this man whom indirectly he killed, Brody took his inheritance, the bot, and left home to work as a hired hand. Unaware that slowly he moved farther and farther away from home, Brody ended up in the Mid-Atlantic with a small but proud business selling and buying horses.
Cowboy Bot Pilot
Brody earned his stripes in the valley and canyons of Arizona. Tasked by his family to pilot an old family heirloom, a bot as a last ditch effort to secure the family’s ranch and property against criminals and other threats, he went on to find a permanent position as a rancher for his folks. His skills as a pilot developed naturally after being taught by his adopted uncle, an old Wolfen and retired bot pilot. Some of his siblings believed Brody had it comfortable and so the extra duty of herding and breaking the horses usually fell on Brody since he was small. The result is a man whose experience cumulate into a quick-ass bot pilot and skilled cowboy.
Invoke: Whenever Brody is tasked with protecting property, especially animals, with his bot and his skills as rancher is needed to break a horse, herd cattle, and to shepherd everyone home.
Compel: The whole cowboy thing works both ways and while you can trust Brody to do his job, keep to himself, he behaves. The second there is a hiccup in his pay or he perceives a slight, the man likes to pull his guns. So, just pay the man.
Everyone who knows Brody knows he's a heavy drinker. They would all say, he has a drinking problem but if you ask Brody yourself, he'll tell you, straight-up, he ain't got no problem drinking at all.
Invoke: When Brody stands idle for too long, the itch for a sip of his poison begins to gnaw its way into the forefront of Brody's mind.
Compel: Sometimes it is hard to depend on Brody. He means well, and has merit as a pilot but the man drinks too much. It's depressing.
Raised By Wolves
How a blond, blue eyes white baby came to be raised by a couple of Wolfen is not something people concern themselves with over in the Spirit West but this family used what little they had, a plot of land and some horses to build a business that over the years became lucrative allowing them to use their influence among the Wolfen community to adopt Brody as an infant and raise him as one of their own.
Invoke: When Brody is trying to fit in a Wolfen group or individual, Brody’s mannerism and reputation among the Wolfen of the west makes it more likely they’ll at least buy him a drink.
Compel: Not everyone appreciates Brody, a human, thinking he can live with the Wolfen. Humans with prejudice against Wolfen and Wolfen with prejudice against man, have a hard time taking Brody serious.
Lately, Brody has been getting less work as a rancher and more as a horse merchant after one of his last jobs ended up paying him short. To cool Brody’s disappointment, the ranchers traded him some horses to leave. With an eye for a good horse and the knowledge matter expertise to care and sell them, Brody has been trying his luck as a horse purveyor.
Invoke: When Brody spends some time studying a horse - he is able to better determine its worth and condition.
Compel: Brody is the horse merchant, everyone knows that, and sometimes when a strange or exotic horse is brought to his attention, he is known to over-pay, especially when threatened with lost of the purchase.
