What personal data we collect and why we collect it
The Lost Dominion requires an email from all Players. First and foremost that is how we communicate with our players using the Tickets system The Lost Dominion uses instead of the +jobs system found on most MUSHes. It also allows Staff to connect Player alts together. Staff doesn’t care if you create an email just for use with this game, so long as you check it and it’s consistent across all of your characters.
All Player’s IPs are recorded by the MU* server. Staff does not at any time request any personal information beyond this such as your name, address, occupation, etc. etc. Any personal real-life information is done voluntarily by the Player and at their own risk. A common instance of this might be timezone, to help coordinate RP hours. All players are responsible for the protection of their own personal information.
Staff will never give out a Player’s email or IP information to any third parties except as required by law.
Keep in mind that a MU* is not a secure environment. Even if you appear to be alone in a room, some exits are coded to relay anything said/posed to another room. Objects in a room may be “recording” such as loggers. In all cases, Staff will attempt to notify the Playerbase be it a note on the object, or the room, or a game-wide post if such objects are being used.
Staff has tried to make it impossible for such things as Staff-bits being Dark (invisible) in a room, or allowing objects to secretly record actions in a room, but accidents happen and loopholes are found.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Player Registration and Support Desk
When registering as a player on the website, we record your IP and email address, as well as the username you choose. This information is used to allow you to login to the website and manage your characters and support requests.
When completing a form on our site, your IP address, and if you are a registered user the username associated with your login, is recorded to allow us to connect and confirm requests are associated with a registered user and for analytical purposes.
Our contact form data is deleted every six months.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
We use Google Analytics to track visits to our website. Information is captured by a cookie and will include your IP address. No other Personally Identifiable Information is captured.
Collection of Information
In order to use the Lost Dominion website, we may require information from you in order to provide the best service possible. All correspondence may also be collected and stored, particularly in regard to to the operation of the game, including Email. Any information collected by Lost Dominion is collected via correspondence from you. This may be via the Email, @mail or directly through our website.
Use of Collection Information
Any details collected from Lost Dominion players are required in order to provide you with access to the game and to ensure a quality playing experience. Correspondence is recorded in order to provide service references, and to assist in our staff development.
Access to Collected Information
If your personally identifiable information changes, or if you no longer desire our service, you may correct, update, delete or deactivate it by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org or completing a support request.
